Diagram shows the stress contour (due to maximum wind load) around the rectangular cutout on the shell plate of a Steel chimney, at the junction with a horizontal duct. Very high local stresses are observed at the corners of the cutout. The legend shows the stress values in N/mm2  corresponding to the various color codes.
